Build your own XI

Build your own XI: pick one of 12 formations (4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2, 4-1-4-1, 5-3-2, 4-5-1, 3-4-3, 4-2-2-2, 3-6-1, 4-1-2-1-2, 5-4-1), add real players or start from a club's most-used starting 11, and save it. A free lineup maker, no sign-up.

How it works

  1. Pick a formation: one of 12, from 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 to a back three or a back five.
  2. Add real players from club squads, or start from a club's most-used starting 11.
  3. Drag players to swap them or move them anywhere on the pitch, then save your lineup.

The 12 formations

4-3-3
Width from the wingers and a high press; exposed on the flanks if they don't track back.
4-4-2
Two solid banks of four and two strikers; can be outnumbered in central midfield.
4-2-3-1
Two holders behind a creative trio; flexible and well protected, but the lone striker can be isolated.
3-5-2
Three centre-backs and a five-man midfield that owns the centre; the wing-backs run all game.
4-1-4-1
An anchor shields the back four behind a dense line of four; hard to break down, built to counter.
5-3-2
A five-man back line when defending and two strikers as the outlet; maximum security, little width.
4-5-1
Compact lines and one forward; protects a lead, but the striker is on his own.
3-4-3
Wing-backs push up to make a five-man attack; stretches defences, thin at the back in transition.
4-2-2-2
The magic rectangle: no wingers, full-backs give the width, four in the centre own the half-spaces.
3-6-1
Six in midfield to starve the opponent of the ball; needs discipline to keep the striker involved.
4-1-2-1-2
A diamond midfield with a holder and a number 10; strong through the middle, narrow on the flanks.
5-4-1
A dense defensive wall to absorb pressure or protect a lead; little going forward.
